Forum: etree Subject: why was "date added" feature taken away?

i have always searched the archive in the same manner for shows that were performed in my state. i kept track of when i last checked out new additions by scrolling down the recently added shows until i got to the last date i checked. now that feature is gone. i have tried to search with the advanced search function by inputting my state's abbreviation and also spelled out. unfortunately, this doesn't work well at all. i can perform the same search twice in a row and get different info each time. i'm really bummed because i am missing out on why i enjoyed the archive in the first place.
(1) any answers on how to properly search for shows played in a certain state?
(2) any way to find out what has been added since a particular date?
(3) any reason why the most recently added shows can't list the date they were added anymore.

The new search engine is more powerful and much faster than the old. In fact, it allows you to search in ways that were previously not possible. It just takes some getting used to.

(1) any answers on how to properly search for shows played in a certain state?

Searching for coverage:MA returns shows that were played in Massachusetts. Searching for MA does as well.

(2) any way to find out what has been added since a particular date?

Searching for addeddate:["2004-07-20" TO null] will return everything added since July 20.

(3) any reason why the most recently added shows can't list the date they were added anymore.

It will. I'm still working on the UI.

As for i can perform the same search twice in a row and get different info each time, I've never seen such behavior and I'd need some link to give me an example.

What I've written above is not terribly obvious - I know - so I'm not surprised you didn't figure it out on your own. We intend to write some documentation. But just like you had to get used to the old search engine, this one takes some adjustment as well.

Enjoy.

Jon

On a related note, is there some way to glean the "date added" information for a given show from the main page for that show?
This would seem an obvious place to retrieve that information, but I just don't see it.

Thanks.

I was kind of missing the actual date added being listed on the main page too
